One of Clovis' oldest and hardest pressed neighborhoods have added a new an installation of SYNLawn among many other upgrades to improve the community's image as well as conserve water and save money. Among the many reasons for adding SYNLawn was "It looks fresh and green, and it doesn't require maintenance", and "the city will save money in the long run because the grass will cost very little to maintain over its 10-year life".
Built largely in the 1950s and 1960s, the Clovis neighborhood has some of the city's earliest large-scale housing tracts. It has lower incomes and substantially more rental housing than most other neighborhoods.
The city's community development grant coordinator quotes, "It helps with pride of ownership and creates a sense of place, hopefully it can spin off and spur improvements that we couldn't afford otherwise."
